As the 10th Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina approaches on August 29, 2015, Habitat for Humanity of the MS Gulf Coast announces the establishment of the Katrina 10th Anniversary Fund. This fund will be used to continue the work started to help families who lost so much and suffered greatly due to the historic disaster.
With affordable housing being one of the key issues and challenges facing the Gulf Coast following Katrina, HFHMGC responded by building and rehabbing over 930 homes. Yet our work is not done.
Your support is needed. As a donor, you make an impactful investment in the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Your contribution to the Katrina 10th Anniversary Fund is a fitting way to mark the progress we’ve made and remember those who lost their homes and lives.
In mid June 2015, HFHMGC began construction on 3 homes in a new 13 home subdivision in Pascagoula called Fowler Fields. The homes are being built to receive FORTIFIED and Energy Star certifications, making them both resilient against high winds and sustainable with low energy costs. A wall raising ceremony will be held in late August 2015 to commemorate the progress made since August 2005.
Hurricane Katrina was a huge event that had major impact on the Gulf Coast. HFHMGC is asking our supporters to respond on the 10th Anniversary with financial support that will have a major impact. Joining Habitat for Humanity on the MS Gulf Coast by donating to the Katrina 10th Anniversary Fund to support our build is the perfect response.
