Students journey to Biloxi on community service trip

4-12-11studentsA group of high school students from Portland, Maine are in Biloxi this week as part of a community service learning trip.

The guiding question for the trip is how a community sustains itself in the face of disaster. The students will consider Hurricane Katrina and the gulf oil spill.

As part of their trip, students will spend this week on the Coast building houses with Habitat for Humanity, participating in community service projects with Hands On Mississippi and removing invasive species from the marshlands.
