Habitat for Humanity of the Mississippi Gulf Coast awarded 1st Place Home Builder in the 2013 People’s Choice Awards
Habitat for Humanity of the Mississippi Gulf Coast is proud to announce it has been awarded number one local home builder for its home building efforts along the Mississippi Gulf Coast in the 2013 People’s Choice Awards sponsored by Sun Herald MultiMedia.
HFHMGC celebrates this honor with an open house August 7 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. The open house will be held at the HFHMGC offices at 2214 34th St. in Gulfport. The public is invited to come by and meet with staff and to gain information on the programs and services Habitat offers the community.
“To be selected the favorite local Home Builder is a great honor. It says the community respects Habitat for the work we do and the services we provide. This is important to us because as a nonprofit, we are a community organization.” said Adele Lyons, Director of Development for Habitat for Humanity of the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
The first Sun Herald MultiMedia Awards began as a way to honor small businesses in South Mississippi. Nominations and voting by the public were done online through www.sunherald.com. Nominations began in April and voting was in May. Voters selected businesses in 60 categories and winners were ranked in first, second and third places.
Over 15,500 people voted for the People’s Choice Awards. Categories were as varied and diverse as the businesses that were selected the People’s Choice and included entertainment, food and drink, goods, health, local favorites and services.In the home builder category there were over 670 votes for 20 different nominees.
Sun Herald MultiMedia is publishing a special section August 1 to feature top winners of this year’s People’s Choice Awards. As voted by “the people”, the businesses, people and products that will be represented are the best and the brightest.
