Employees build relationships, homes with Habitat for Humanity

Two employee groups recently rolled up their sleeves to help Habitat for Humanity of the Mississippi Gulf Coast build a pair of houses.

In Ocean Springs, seven female employees in the Customer Services Organization participated in the Women’s Build project for a family on North 3rd St. It was the second straight year that members of the CSO took part in this project.

“This is a great way for us to be leaders, help other women and give back to our communities,” said Nicole Faulk, vice president of Customer Services Organization. “It’s a great opportunity for us to work together as a team, to laugh and have fun and use those power tools. What a great day and what a great group of ladies who volunteered their time and energy on this project.”

Industrial Marketing Specialist Stacey Miles has helped organize several Community Connection events to support Habitat’s mission in south Mississippi, but the Women’s Build is something she’s very proud of.

“You don’t typically see a lot of women out on a construction site and this is a great way for us to get involved in an activity like this,” Miles said. “Habitat is not a handout, it’s a hand-up. We are helping those who truly want to find a way to thrive and be successful for their families.”

In mid-October, employees from Plant Daniel, the Chevron Cogenerating Plant and the Lucedale Customer Service Office teamed up to help a needy family get one day closer to owning their own home.

“It’s actually been a great day,” Plant Daniel Manager Nik Budney said. “We’ve made a lot of progress in a short amount of time.”
